![]() | What is required of a student in pharmacist training Pharmacist training is all the required steps and procedures that a student undergoes in order to become a fully qualified pharmacist. A pharmacist is responsible for medicine prescription in a hospital or chemist and therefore, he/she has to undergo rigorous training and testing before being given the full mandate to be behind the prescription desk. In all countries around the world, medical practitioners are expected to maintain very high standards of discipline and also delivery. In order for one to become a fully licensed pharmacist, he/she is expected to pass a number of educational hurdles. First of all, he/she is required to obtain a Pharm.D degree from an accredited pharmaceutical training college or university. In the earlier days, the Pharm.D degree was referred to as the Bachelor of Pharmacy degree. In order for an aspiring pharmacist to get admitted to a Pharm.D degree program, he/she must have completed a two year post secondary education although those who do up to three years or more are not closed out. He/she must also have a good understanding of subjects like mathematics and natural sciences like biology, chemistry and physics. He/she should also be good in courses in the humanities sector like history and social studies. There is clear evidence that in order for someone to be considered for pharmacist training, he/she must possess sharpness in a lot of areas as the career itself demands the same.

The pharmacy training course is aimed at equipping students with knowledge about all aspects about drug therapy. It also teaches students how to effectively communicate with patients and other health care workers about proper patient care and drug use. The course also teaches students all the relevant professional ethics, all concepts of public health and medical distribution management. Apart from the normal classroom training, pharmacy students spend a lot of their time doing pharmacy practice while being supervised by professional licensed pharmacists. All over the world, pharmacists are required to have a pharmacist license before working at any health facility. All pharmacy training institutions ensure that the pharmacist training that they give their students is able to effectively make them pass the license test. All countries in the world have medical licensing boards which separately run the pharmacist licensing boards to ensure that all pharmacists are fit for the positions they hold.
